Ask Sheryl - Q & A from Cheryl G./How do you search on Bible Gateway?
AN NEW QUESTION...
Sheryl, how do you do a search on Bible Gateway of, for example, all 7:17 Bible verses? Or all verses numbered 47?
Thank you for all that you do for us.
Blessings all over you from head to foot,
Cheryl G.

Cheryl,
I usually do it the old-fashioned way of sitting down with my Bible and literally going book by book and making notes of what I find so I can go back. It sounds tedious but is actually awesome to see what God says and also could be saying. Many years ago, this happened to me when I really got serious about seeking Him. I was going BONKERS with the number 444. Everywhere I went on receipts, I'd drive by that particular address and hadn't noticed it before, on the clock all the time etc... I couldn't believe it when my bank sent me my new debit card and the CVV numbers on the back were literally 444. I mean, how does that happen? So, I sat down with my favorite version and a notepad and went from Genesis to Revelation looking up every 4:44 or 44:4. It was quite eye opening to say the least and definitely had a message for me. Back then I was actually not doing my newsletters, I was podcasting, so I ended up making a podcast about what I found...lol. So today I do the same. I either go through the entire 66 books in my Bible taking detailed notes or go to BibleGateway online as you mentioned and do the work there.
Sometimes I can go to BibleGateway.com and in the search line you can put say Genesis 7:17 in then choose your favorite version of the Bible and see what is says. Then simply change the book over and over leaving the verses you are looking for. Meaning put in Exodus, Leviticus etc... never changing the numbers just erasing the book. Of course, the cool thing about BibleGateway is that you can change versions and see how something is said in many different versions. Jerry & I watch Tim Sheets every week (we have for years now) and I love that he shares from many versions. Another awesome thing with using BibleGateway.com is that you can copy and paste to either a word document or an email and keep it for yourself. I sometimes copy things to emails and then just email it to me so that I have a copy to keep. I quickly copied these scriptures below to share with you from BibleGateway.
Either way, it definitely takes some time, but we tend to be impatient with ourselves. God isn't pressuring us so take days if it takes days. Doing it is the obedience and the seeking part. God is outside of time. He created it so to Him He is just joyful to see we are seeking Him or searching through His word because we want to know what He is saying to us.
Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a thing.
Matthew 6:33
But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
1 Samuel 15:22 Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
I pray this helps,
Sheryl
P.S. Let me know if you need anything else and thank you for writing me.
