Cry Out & Stop Letting Jesus just walk right on by ~ Blog
There is clear evidence in the word that Jesus would have just walked by countless people who had needs if they didn't cry out to Him.
1) In Matthew 14, the disciples had to cry out when Jesus was walking on water. There is a translation that literally says, Jesus would have walked right on by.
2) The man at the gate, Beautiful in Acts 3, had to cry out, and people told him to be quiet, yet he knew he would miss his encounter and healing from Jesus if he didn't cry out even louder.
3) Two blind men cried out, 'Jesus, have mercy on us' in Matthew 9:27.
Like me, you have needs. Maybe an illness, a prodigal who has walked away from the Lord and from you. A financial need that you yourself cannot fix or repair. What do you do? Well, when we've suffered enough, most of us will rise up rather than just lie down. We will get into the Word and spend time with Holy Spirit so that we learn what God always intended for us to do about the issues of life. Jesus took care of not only salvation but also sickness, disease, and financial hardships on that Cross.
Do I believe that God causes suffering? Of course not, but He will allow us to go our own way and do things our own way, even though He has clearly shown us through His Word what others did when Jesus was here on earth.
Did Jesus heal everyone in His day? The answer is no. In fact, we are told in Matthew 13 that He could not do mighty works because of their unbelief. Jesus was either asked to heal certain people or were brought to Him. The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 risked everything to simply touch the hem of His garment. What I love about this story is that Jesus doesn't make her healing directly about Him. Again, we find that He would have walked right on by, but she pressed through with such faith that out of all the people standing around Jesus in that crowd, He stopped, turned to her, and gave her faith the credit for bringing her healing.
If you've been praying for something specific, my advice today is to change it up. Press through like the woman with the issue of blood did. Cry out all the louder like the man at the gate, Beautiful did.
First, make sure you are truly praying in faith. Second, watch what you are saying. If you are praying, bring my prodigal home, and then, leaving your prayer closet and talking to others about how you'll never see them again or they'll never come home, you need to put a guard on your mouth because Psalm 103:20 says the angels hearken unto the voice of God's word, not grumbling, complaining, whining, or unbelief. Third, don't forget to decree a thing, as Job 22:28 tells us.
You might be asking, Do we really have to spend so much time in prayer, decrees, etc...? Well, it depends on how badly you want to be healed, need financial help, or whatever it is you are crying out for in the first place.
And finally get louder. Don't be like carnal Christians who just let Jesus walk right on by. You probably walk by a lot of people every single day while you are at work or out shopping. You don't think much about it because you don't know them or need anything from them, but our walk should always be about a close relationship with Jesus.
That means we invite Him into every part of our lives. We tell Him everything. We call on Him for help. We believe He cares and wants to hear what we have to say or what our needs are, but most importantly, the intimacy that we have with Jesus should be even more than with our spouse or a child. If they are in another room or calling on the phone, we know their voice. You can pick it out of thousands of other voices in a room because you know it.
My final questions. Does Jesus know your voice? Do you know Jesus' voice? Beloved, it's time to change things up a bit.
Luke 18:7 NLT
Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
