On Earth as it is in Heaven ~ Blog
FORTIFY MY FAITH ~ Mercy Culture
I often write about how the Lord speaks, and this for me is one of the ways. Christian songs are often written from scripture. This song spoke volumes to me as I listened to it over and over for weeks. This blog came from the truth in this song.
When you look around our world today, it's almost impossible to find anything that you would deem in Heaven as it is on Earth, but I did find one thing, and in fact, it is one of the most important things that some don't even know or realize. One of the most amazing things is happening day and night, and yet we perceive it not beloved.
Are you wondering yet what I could possibly be talking about? What is it that I see as on earth as it is in heaven? Well, let me explain. We have Jesus, who was sent to earth, and while here, scripture tells us that He often went away from the disciples to pray. To me, that in itself is mindblowing. Jesus (God in the flesh) prayed to His Father? Yes, and He left that example for you and me today.
Luke 9:28 NKJV
Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
He was an example of praying and taught His disciples how to pray in Luke 11:1. Let's look at an amazing proof that while on earth, Jesus wasn't just praying amiss. No, He was praying that Satan would not win over on His people.
Luke 22:31-32 NIV
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Not only does this tell us that Jesus prayed for Simon (Peter) and the other disciples. It also tells us that although we will go through trials that Satan brings into our lives, once we get through them, we are to strengthen our brothers and sisters. Therefore, trials do not just come for us; they come so that once we overcome, we are able to walk through the same things with the body of Christ. Hebrews 13:5b comes to mind here because God has never left us or forsaken us, beloved. He made sure of it by sending His Word that became flesh and dwelt among us, and then by sending us the precious Holy Spirit, once Jesus ascended who amazingly also intercedes for us.
Romans 8:27 NIV
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Through all the pain and agony that day on the Cross, Jesus still chose to intercede for us. When He gave up His Spirit (they did not kill Him, He knew when it was finished).
Luke 23:34a NIV
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
He was still crying out. We were on His mind. The Garden of Gethsemane was now in the past, and He was fulfilling a plan that He, Father God, and the Holy Spirit had made even before the foundations of the world. Then if all that He'd done wasn't enough, once in Heaven He never stopped praying or interceding for you and me.
Romans 8:34b NIV
Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Once I began to meditate on the intercession going forth and the relationship that Jesus has with the Father, I began to realize that many today have an incorrect image of what Jesus meant in Luke 18 about always praying.
Luke 18:1 NIV
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Also in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we see that we are to pray without ceasing, but how do we do that? It isn't a dumb question, beloved, any more than it was for Nicodemus to ask Jesus how a man can be born again? How is it possible to always be praying? How then can we pray without ceasing?
The importance of prayer cannot be overstated. If Jesus had to pray and the Holy Spirit intercedes as well, then I believe what they are revealing to us is that we must be in constant communion with the Father. Another thing that is important here is to remember that it was while Jesus prayed that the heavens opened. If we want the heaven's opened over us, our lives, and our homes, we must be people of prayer.
Luke 3:21 AMPC
Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized, and [while He was still] praying, the [visible] heaven was opened.
Therefore, if we want to live under an open Heaven and to have constant communion with the Father, we are to live like Jesus. Always seeking the Father in everything we do and even the things that we say. Spending time with God, using the name of Jesus, and knowing that Holy Spirit lives inside of us should always be a top priority daily. Jesus said,
John 5:19 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
In this new season, we must become so one with God that we are in constant communion. The old ways will not work anymore. God truly is doing a new thing and has told us so for years now. We see it with our own eyes, don't we? We cannot deny that God is turning the tides and bringing the evil and wicked down. They appear to have a win on occasion, but God also gave Pharaoh a win before He took them all out by letting Pharaoh come after His people one more time. Don't let the darkness fool you. Satan will never win over our Father. They are not equals. Satan is a created being who will never be enthroned in the third Heaven.
Beloved, I will leave you with this, and yes, I do know it sounds crazy, but I actually go to bed talking to the Lord. It sounds kind of funny, but I remind myself of Little House on the Prairie, where at the end you would hear through the house, Goodnight to the people. 'Goodnight John Boy'... lol
I say,
Goodnight Father
Goodnight Jesus
Goodnight Holy Spirit
God truly wants to be so close to us that He is your every thought. Your first thought in the morning and your last thought at night. However, just one more thing of importance is that we must learn that thoughts toward Him are wonderful, but it is actually what we speak that gets the attention of angels, because angels do not read your mind. Speak out your prayers, decrees, prophecies, etc... and watch the Lord move the angels as they hear His word.
Psalm 103:20 NKJV
Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
